(Take a look at this post from 2010. I’m headed down there next week and can’t wait. So glad that the beach bounced back from the oil spill.)
Wow! This week of vacation at Orange Beach, AL, has produced tons of blog material but lack of internet access has kept me off my blog. If you are trying to make a decision about whether or not to go to Orange Beach, I say go ahead. I would not spend much time in the water, however. The sand and water looks great but there is oil present. The workers are doing a great job of cleaning the beach but it will be a continuous battle.
Restaurants visited this week include Doc’s, Cosmo’s, Live Bait, Tacky Jack’s (before President Obama, I might add.), Hazel’s and a new lunch place for us, Grape Escape.
I have to give high marks to Grape Escape. The environment was unique, the food was delicious, service was excellent, and the internet was blazing! I had half a chef salad and a Tuscan Panini Sandwich which included salami, turkey, mozzarella, spinach, tomatoes, mayo, and homemade herbed olive oil on a toasted Tuscan loaf. All the ingredients were fresh and very tasty. The Tuscan loaf was outstanding. The salami gave the sandwich a unique but really good flavor. This place will definitely go on our rotation for places to eat while in Orange Beach.
More to come on our gulf adventure when we return. The beach is great! Come on down!
